Freebie

My classroom had a lot of interruptions with their need to tell me every detail of their life. In order to cut that down, I introduced a couple of things.

- I created a Note Jar. Students who had to tell me something that was not VITALLY important would write me a note on a Dollar Tree notepad and slip it in the jar. I would check it two times a day. At first, they wrote me thirty notes a day, but after two weeks, it became used for what I intended.

- THINK poster - During whole group lectures, some students felt the need to tell me random stories. I found a wonderful quote online and created a printable. Whenever a student would begin with, "One time my mom...", I would glance over at the poster and they would go, "Oh yeah."  I am giving you this printable for free at my new Teacher Pay Teachers store. Please leave some feedback.

What do you do to cut down on interruptions in the classroom?

My Classroom

Spent a little time working in my room this week before my system is shut down for two weeks (one for holiday and one to do the floors). All I managed to get finished is building a shelf (in which my fiance' helped me to put pink tape on the backboard before we attached it), cleaning one shelf, redoing the bulletin boards, and leveling most of my books. Here is an after picture of the bulletin board/bookshelf area since I completely forgot to do a before.

Over the next two weeks, I have tons to do for my classroom AND my home life. I'll try to post pics here and then of what I'm working on.

Almost there!

Finished leveling all of the books. Now I just need to bring it into the classroom, put together my new shelf, and organize all of the books somehow.

I must be crazy because I am actually excited!

Leveling.. Leveling.. Leveling

I never realized that I had collected so many books over the last year! I've been leveling books nonstop for three hours now. I am running dangerously low on yellow stickers! Nooooo!!

What do you do when your books have no level listed on Scholastic's wonderful and amazing book leveling section? I have about half a crate full that has no level listed. :(

Late Monday Meet Me

All work and no play makes for a pretty classroom!

I've went insane with the pink, black, and white color scheme. I'm really excited to start making the containers to match the room tomorrow. Over the next two weeks, I need to finish leveling my books, finish the bookshelf (painting and putting contact paper on the shelf), and then create a few new items for the room. My goal for this next month is to finish organizing so that when I enter into my classroom, the hard part is over. Can't wait to take some before pictures to post so that I can post the after pics!
